The Pleasant Pheasant shepherds hut in Dorset.

Hello my dear friends,
So we have just got back from our weekend away in Dorset where we stayed in the most delightful shepherds hut. I dream of one day owning a little hut of my own and was intrigued to see exactly what it was like sleeping in one. I came across the website canopy and stars which I'm now slightly addicted too and need to work my way through the collection of beautiful and unusual places to stay. If you are after something totally different from the humdrum of 'boutique chic' and 'hipster hotels' then go and check it out!
We decided on Dorset as neither of us had really explored that area and it had a lot to offer! A weekend wasn't nearly long enough but, you want to hear about the hut right?

The pleasant pheasant sits on the edge of a farmers field down a country lane, it shares its field with one other hut that you can just about see so it is lovely and private. The views were ever changing and absolutely stunning and owner Hannah made everything perfect! The farm house was in the next field so you didn't feel like you had just been abandoned but it was far enough to make you feel happily relaxed.

Our little hut was actually a lot bigger than I was expecting and painted in the most beautiful soft shades of cream and green. It had a double bed at one end with a log burner and breakfast bar in the middle, a very competent little kitchen area with a gas hob and the reason I chose this hut over all others... A plumbed in shower room with flushing loo! No stumbling to a washroom/barn or falling into a compost loo! Bliss! And hot running water *lots of smiley faces here* all provided from a solar panel at the back of the hut. I would actually go as far as to say this kitchen was way better than mine.

But it wasn't just the shower room that sold me on this hut oh no, the fact that it has a wood fired hot tub certainly helped and oh my goodness it was amazing! The mr got slightly carried away the first day and actually made it too hot in his cave man excitement so all we could do the first night (after getting back from the local pub) was sit and watch it steam *eyes rolling out loud. But the second day he mastered it and we sat rather smug in our tub star gazing and drinking wine.

We chose the small hamper breakfast for £20 which actually did us for two days (there is a little fridge in the hut) and was brought down by Hannah at a time convenient for us on our first morning, now thats service! It was full of local produce and included a jar of homemade jam and wonderful eggs. My caveman cooked everything the whole weekend on the fire pit and it was some of the best food I've ever tasted. Sitting outside the hut with a steaming cup of coffee just after sunrise and seeing all the cows amble into the field bellow was magical.

September was a beautiful time to be in Dorset and the countryside changed by the hour, the light was also spectacular. We climbed up to Corfe castle  and then swam in the sea at Lulworth Cove.
The village of Sturminster Newton was a ten minute stroll via a foot path that took you over the river Stour and pass an old railway line and was well equipped for supplies. We could really of done with three nights to be able to enjoy the local walks too.

The break was certainly very canopy and stars and I was sad to leave but I look forward to visiting again and finding other wonderful and inspiring places to visit.
